Robertsbridge "Jubilympics" 4th June 2012

The 2012 Robertsbridge Jubilympics is a free fun event designed to involve the whole village in coming together to celebrate the Queens Jubilee and the London Olympics.

There will be a parade down the high Street, Sedan Chair Races, fun cycling events for the whole family. Take part in village games and competitions or just come along, relax, dance to the live music and celebrate the day.

It may seem a long way off but please put a note in your diary.

The 2012 Robertsbridge Jubilympics will take place on the recreation ground on the afternoon and evening of Monday 4th June 2012.

There will be fun Olympic styled events in the afternnoon, when people can bring their own picnics and gazeebos as with prevous events, and there will be a live band in the evening.

The event will start with a procession down the High Street. We are planning to have a Sedan Chair Race at the event which will involve a cross country time trial race around the recreation ground following a procession of all the chairs down the High Street. The theme will be the Olympics and the countries competing so all chairs will be themed as will the teams. There will be prizes for best chair, best dressed team, fastest chair etc.

It's now time to get your team together (5 people including one passenger), enter your interest.... and get building and give vent to your creative side! We are hoping for Eiffel Towers, Leaning Towers, Taj Mahals, Big Bens, Empire State buildings, Statue of Liberty or country themes/Olympic sports. The entrance fee will only be £10 per team with proceeds going towards the cost of the whole afternoon which will be free for all.

We plan to build on the success of the Robertsbridge Summer Events and offer a different experience each summer. In between the bigger events, we will continue to put on family fun days suitable for children of all ages.

Robertsbridge Summer Events are organised as a result of the views expressed by village residents in the Local Action Plan Survey.
